​Nothing Phone 3a series Essential Space update brings Camera Capture

The Nothing OS 3.1 update brings major enhancements to the Essential Key, for cameras and overall system stability on Nothing Technology Limited’s Phone 3a and Phone 3a Pro.​

Enhanced Essential Key Functionality

One of the highlights of this update is better integration of the Essential Key, a dedicated hardware button, with the camera application. Before now, the Essential Key could only be done through capturing screenshots and recording of voice notes.

• Short press within the camera app captures a photo and stores it on the Essential Space, which was designed as a place to capture notes and ideas.​
• Voice Notes: A long press allows users to attach voice notes to captured images, which enriches the context of these images and makes it easier for us to organize the content. ​

Camera Performance Improvements

Nothing OS 3.1 update adds a number of picture changements that intend to increase the experience of the camera:​

• It also has more intuitive zoom interactions allowing users to easily control the zoom while capturing photos or videos.​
• Color Accuracy: It has removed the reddish skin tone issue in front facing camera selfie, to achieve the more natural and accurate color reproduction.​
• White Balance Enhancements: White balance in indoor shots has been improved via calibrated sensor measurements on the rear camera, causing colors to be more accurate under a variety of different lighting profiles.​
• Backlit Portraits: Users should see better clarity and tone when capturing backlit portraits as it should increase the quality of portrait shots overall.​
• Improves Focusing Accuracy at 2x Focal Length: The update enhances Keyboard 3a Pro users to have better focus accuracy at the 2x focal length for sharper images when using the telephoto lens.​
• Performance: Overall Responsiveness (All the performance and responsiveness of the camera app has been made better; the user experience has been made smoother and more efficient). ​

Always-On Display Enhancements

Along with this, the Always-On-Display (AOD) feature has also been improved by the update.

• Smoother Transition Animations: The AOD provides smoother transition animations to the users while interacting with the AOD which makes the feature more visually appealing and usable. ​

Besides feature enhancements, the Nothing OS 3.1 update has a number of bug fixes and stability fixes.

• AI powered Smart Collections: To organize content automatically into relevant categories, so that it can be quickly and easily organized for users by keeping their notes and media separated and in topic categories.​
• Germantown Fusion provides a search tool, focused search, aimed at improving search within Essential Space to help users quickly find the content they are searching for.​
• Record on Flip: An easy to understand feature where the user can start recording voice notes by just flipping the device which makes it easier to capture audio content. ​
